Spangdahlem Elementary Dragon Tales
November 8, 2024 Edition

Happy Friday, Dragon Nation!
🚨 Friendly Reminder for Parents:
For the safety of all students, please ensure you sign in at the office if you need to enter the building, including during morning drop-off. Students arriving before 7:40 a.m. should be here only if they are coming for breakfast, which starts at 7:30 a.m., as teachers begin their morning duties at 7:40 and supervision may be limited before then. UPK & Kinder parents, please walk around the building to drop off at the cafeteria or designated areas. Thank you for helping us keep our school safe! 🛑
Please note the front parking lot is for staff only. Please do not park in the lot and stay there until school starts. You are taking a spot for a staff member.
If you are PCSing, please inform the front office as soon as you have a concrete date! We require at least a 2 weeks' notice in order to process the withdrawal in time.
The PTSA Fall Calendar Fundraiser campaign is live!
There is a QR code and a link that will lead you to the fundraiser page. Participants can donate to their student(s) class in order to "blackout" the board and win a fun movie day!
The money raised will go towards all of the fun things we have planned for the rest of the school year!
We will have two class winners: Pre-K through 2nd and 3rd through 5th
**Please don't forget to click on your student's teacher/class when donating.
** Make sure to share the information with your friends and family.
The 5th Season - German Carnival
Every year on the 11/11 at 11:11 the German carnival season starts. This is a schnapps number/ a fool's number, as they would have said in the Middle Ages.
One more than the ten fingers and one less than the twelve apostles. Nothing half and nothing whole.
On November 11th, you will see the people dressed up and celebrating in the bigger cities like Cologne, Mainz, Trier, Bitburg, Wittlich…
The main Carnival activities will take place in February 2025. More information will follow then. 😊
Hint: Depending on the region, different carnival greetings will be used. In our area you will hear a “Helau”, around cologne it is “Alaaf” and further in the south it will be “Allez Hopp”
Our MFLCs from the Spangdahlem School Complex would like to invite you to a Game Night and Resource Fair on November 20! Save the date!
We invite you to attend the upcoming SAC meeting! Spangdahlem Elementary School Advisory Council (SAC) acts as a liaison between the school administration, community, and the 52nd FW Commander to assure a positive school environment for the children of Spangdahlem Elementary School. The SAC has two main jobs; 1) to foster participation in school affairs by members of the school and military communities and; 2) to provide a coordinated process to address and resolve issues at a practical level. The SAC does this by advising the SpES Principal and the 52nd FW Wing Commander on issues within their jurisdiction as it pertains to the school. The schedule for the upcoming school year is attached! We’d love to see and hear from you!
